- There has been a lot of contention lately regarding necessary resources in general as they relate to basic human needs. This has become such a concern that demands for renewable resources have become a central driving point. However, despite the obvious necessity of such technological advancements in order to substantiate renewable resources in general, which -DO- exist...opponents to such ideologies have stated, time-and-time again, that such advancements would prove to be 'unfeasible'. The ideology behind these concepts being 'unfeasible' is due to the dramatic impact, which -WILL- occur, to the current existing economic model if such renewable technological resources were made available to the public. In essence, renewable resources are not feasible...in a monetary based economy.
- Vertical hydroponic/aeroponic farming and/or aquaponic fisheries are one of such examples of renewable technological resources. Though clearly the next step in the agricultural industry, the very existance of this knowledge threatens to jeapordize the entire agriculture industry and the food market in general. Regardless of the construction cost of said facilities, farmers still employing 20th century (...or earlier...) proceedures that waste hectacres of arable land through the use of oil-based pesticides that poison soil and aquifer, fowl and fauna (...or worse, genetically modified stock whose nutritional value is questionable at best...) to find themselves unable to compete with modern means of food production. Why wouldn't they be able to compete?...glad you asked.
- First of all, there's location...a vertical hydroponic/aeroponic farm and/or aquaponic fishery can be built in the very center of any city and any building can be converted into one. The taller the building, the more can be produced, which would make skyscrapers actually useful. Conveying fish/produce long distances would no longer be extensively necessary, hence, a drastic reduction in need for distribution/warehousing. Due to being enclosed, like a greenhouse, there would no longer be a need to spread costly oil-based toxins, inefficiently, for miles which would affect the oil industry that industrial pesticides are created from. Such enclosed locations would aid in managing water usage which is, likewise, vastly wasted under current existing farming methods. Even the cost of harvesting would be essentially eliminated as individuals could simply go and pick from what was available - freshness 100% guaranteed...
- The only real problem with these facilities is how drastically the job market would contract. Being strategically placed would dramatically affect the distribution industry by location alone. The farming industry would also be significantly affected since it would be cheaper to grow vertically, eliminating the need to rely upon the sheer volume of industrial pesticides which would impact the profit of the oil industry (...not to mention the drastic reduction in need for water...). Due to the ability to grow all year round without additional requirements, the sheer volume of produced would radically tip the scales of supply regarding the food industry. Yes, paying jobs would be lost, but sheer volume generated would make food in general affordable to anyone...if not entirely free, due to the sheer abundance produced. This is a fact and has been proven by the company in Wisconsin called Growing Power (http://www.growingpower.org/) that managed to generate over a million pounds of produce along with over 10,000 tilapia fish on three acres of land - annually, and it's only a one-story facility.
- Unfortunately, this is also where said facilities become regarded as 'unfeasible' for in a monetary based economy, even though such facilities are not impossible to attain (...again, please see Growing Power for more info...), it's just impossible to maintain any form of substantial, long-term profit and that is the premier reason why renewable technological resources are not widely accepted. Establishing renewable resources and creating abundance ruins a monetary based economy which derives market price value based on scarcity as per the economic law of supply and demand. If people have the means to acquire thier own power by way of utilizing solar panel system arrays, for example, besides the initial cost of resources to create and the occaissional maintenance thereof...it would be virtually impossible for any corporation to maintain consistant profit because you couldn't meter power usage so the only way to gain is to over-inflate the initial sale price (...much like the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price on vehicles...also known as the 'MSRP'...) which makes such technologies outrageously and unnecessarily expensive. Thus, our society today is kept reliant on outdated and blatantly hazardous methods of food production and power acquisition because it keeps the current existing monetary system 'stable' by ensuring scarcity...hence, reinforcing the 'law of supply and demand' that, technologically, we already possess the means to subjegate.
- We are at a critical time where humanity, as a whole, needs to make a decision: Do we abandon logic and reason in order to preserve an archaic monetary based economy which incurs the needless demise of millions of innocent members of not only our own species, but every species on our planet, through the denial of access to necessary resources for life by either force or through the destruction/contamination of existing resources; or do we use our God-given reason and use our science and technology to ensure that -ALL- have that which the Founding Fathers of the United States fought and DIED believing in - that -ALL- have that which is ordained by Providence, unalienable and self-evident - the RIGHT to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?...
- ...Because it is ENTIRELY feasible...
- ...Just not in a monetary based economy.

Thank you for your time,

Good read! Keep it up, Mark! Water will drill a hole in granite if it keeps running long enough. :) ^5
ReplyDeleteAlas.. my friend Mark Little has thrown in the towel...
ReplyDeleteInstead of addressing any points or counter points that challenge his world view he has chosen to just to block any future postings.
I guess in the FB world it is easier to deny any points or information that is contrary to your own views, you just need to block any dissent from your posting world and you can continue on your way without h...aving to be exposed to any critical information.
Maybe one day, regardless of what views you take as truth you will learn to think critically and not take yourself too seriously. It was anti-climatic but a lot of fun nonetheless.
Farewell Mark... it was entertaining, though your choice to retreat rather than engage is disappointing.
Mr. Szathmary,
ReplyDeleteYou could have posted the feasibility article here, this would've actually been an ideal spot.
Sincerely,
The American Deist,
Mark D. Little.
