A Patriot's Lament (I Take The Blame)

I take the blame...,
In a Nation where individuals seek to 'pass the buck',
And deny responsibility for thier actions (regardless how extreme),
Regarding wrong-doing and injury to thier fellow countryman,
I take a stand...and say,
I take the blame.

I take the blame,
When corporations accept foreign currencies,
For outsourcing jobs to facilitate thier own profit margins,
And seek government aid to thier own financial failings,
I refuse to stand behind a straw man - 'corporate personhood',
I take the blame.

I take the blame,
For the unconstitutional laws that have been passed,
Despite Congress whose intent and purpose
Is to insure the Constitution is preserved and maintained,
I failed my own Nation, for those whom I elected, therefore...,
I take the blame.

I take the blame,
For the prejudices that exists and are still allowed to foster,
And for not educating my fellow countryman's discrimination,
And in neglecting the Constitution for not understanding,
"Seperation of Church and State", I KNOW who is at fault,
I take the blame.

I take the blame,
For being too lazy and not becoming more involved,
In the very government which is decreed to be regulated,
For the People, Of the People, BY THE PEOPLE,
In choosing not to monitor Our Government more closely,
I take the blame.

Let no other take my place,
For if just one other seeks to be shamed,
Let them speak from thier mouth in thier own way,
This is to my eternal shame, a Patriot's lament,
For not caring about my kin, countryman and nation,
I take the blame.
